Because We Are Dying

I am dying right now.  So are you.

There is nothing we can do about it.  Every day brings us closer to the day that we will give up our grip on our dreams, our passions, our hopes, our bad habits, our grievances, our friends, our family, our enemies, our petty offenses.

When we keep this foremost in our mind, it makes it difficult for us to live neutrally.  I don't want to live in just the greys, but I want to feel the blacks and whites and the ups and downs and the positives and negatives of this thing that we call "life."

I do not believe in God.  I do not believe in reincarnation.  I do not believe in an afterlife.

Therefore, I am resigned to the fact that my time here is everything.  It is all that I have.  What I chose to do and not do, who I spend time with and who I do not, these decisions are permanent.  It is important that I remember this fact when I make them.

I've spent a lot of time looking at this whole death thing. It's pretty simple. In the west everyone gets really worked up about it.
Not so much here.

I am with you; define the person you want to be within the probable time limits alloted to you and then go do it. No excuses or nonsense, just action.

People feel uncomfortable with thoughts like this though. You are going to make people uncomfortable if you continue pushing this kind of reasoning.

You are right, we won't be around forever. It's a good reminder to live life to the fullest.

Isn't that the truth! :)

Ditto Trouble.Thinks. We live to die, which is why I see no point in having a nihilistic outlook on life. Either put yourself out of your (and everyone else's) misery or LIVE! Death is the only certainty we've got, so I think we should do our bests to make our time here enjoyable for ourselves and others.
