More Mountains, Snakes, and Bloggers in 3D

My friend Clara, of whom you know from her antagonistic participation in many adventures and bouts of debauchery, wrote up her trip report from our summit of Pyramid Peak.  It's hilarious, despite picking on me a lot.  She almost hurt my feeling.

I met my first real-life blogger!  Like, the first one that I didn't know already.  I met Lorien from "Wayfaring Stranger" for a hike in the Topanga State Park.  Pretty country for Los Angeles.  We went uphill, we went downhill, I showed off my route-finding skills by carefully reading the trail signs, and then we battled a python!

I consider myself a capable, strong, and potentially outdoorsy individual - but I am crippled by my phobia of snakes. I actually don't like going on nature hikes because of this. I require a dog with me to scare anything that might be rustling in the bushes.

Snakes scare the crap out of me.but a hike sounds fun! My family used to go and took me along :)

You know... YOUR picture of the snake is rally misleading. I mean... really... the little enormous killer anaconda, snakes-on-a-plane, semi-retarded, may-have-been-drunk snake that we encountered was no where near that vicious!

Really.
Happily.
I was just sitting here with my mug of tea, after a long afternoon walk with my dog. Kicked up my feet, turned on the computer, clicked on your blog.....

insert snake disgust here

well played, well played.
my toes are unlikely to uncurl for the remainder fo this afternoon.

Allison - Snakes kind of weird me out too. They move funny.

Andhari - Come visit. We'll go one a hike :)

Lorien - oh sure, play the tough girl role.

WM - Your comments always crack me up :) sorry to ruin your afternoon

Alison - When you visit, no way I am introducing you to Clara. I could not handle the two of you together.

Snakes, lizards, salamanders, creepy flies--why is it that scaling peaks with you involves encountering in the creatures of the underworld....

And I would love to meet Alison--anyone who takes it upon themselves to help keep your reality in check is all right in my books!
