June Plans

Damn, June already...how is this year almost half over?  In any case, this is the stuff I am working on for June 2010.
  1. Make a corn-cob pipe.  I don't smoke, but they are still awesome, and I want to make one.  I'll probably just sit on my patio and chew on the stem all recession-era style.
  2. Start brewing beer again.  Hanley's got all the gear, so I guess I am buying the stuff all over again.  He DID give me a free TV though, so I guess we're all squared away.
  3. Start learning Spanish.  Hoping to be able to find a used Rosetta Stone course on the internet universe.
  4. Write everyday.  Be it blog posts, fiction, journaling, or the Great American Novel, write everyday.
  5. Cut back on internet time.
  6. Set limits on work.  Working from home makes it seem like I am always at work, and I act as such.  I need to work on getting everything done well, and then shutting off the computer, closing the door to my office, and doing something else.
  7. Say "yes" to more social stuff.
  8. Get back to training consistently - Jiu-Jitsu 3x/week, Boxing 2x, Running/Lifting 2x
  9. Eat 90% Primal
  10. Read - "Vagabonding," "Two Years Before the Mast," and "Enduring Patagonia."
  11. Put together the piece of shit, assemble it yourself BBQ grill that I bought at Home Depot.  Pretty janky-looking to me so far...

Eat 90% Primal? Explain.

Allison - The easiest way to explain is just to give you a link, so: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/definitive-guide-to-the-primal-eating-plan/

In short, it's just eating real foods, meat, dairy, veggies, some fruit, over processed grains, breads, pasta and the like.

Cool - sounds healthy. I must admit when I saw Primal I thought about cavemen hunting sabertooth tigers with clubs.

#8... yeah, I just scoped out the boxing pic on your bio and HELLO!!
Thanks for that. ;-)

But I thought you read Vagabonding? I suggest you read it only if you plan on getting the F*& out of dodge, because that is all it made me want to do...

And you forgot to add PLANNING for upcoming camping trips. Some of us are unemployed and BORED... *taps foot EXTREMELY impatiently*

Oh, and as for the bbq grill, if you hold the flashlight, I'll put it together for you... =)

Haha, I love that "primal" is the word used to define that diet. As for the rest, good goals...very similar to my own for this month...especially the working from home bit. I was told that floating within the soiled pants of my friend Dan, there exists some irregular fungi awaiting primal digestion. What say you sir?

Good luck with that list. :D

You can usually find a rosetta stone on a bit torrent site like isohunt.com. My brother in law did it, and got like.. 10 free Rosetta Stone programs.

Sunny Girl - I'd be up for that. It's close to my house.

Allison - Thats part of what I like about it.

TT - As soon as the sun comes out. Deal?

Venom - Oh stop...

Clara - I have read it before, but I think it's a good one to refresh now and again.

Clara - Hardy har!

Linda - Step 1 is being unable to put together lego furniture versions of a BBQ

Bryan - What say I? I say...that I could have gone a bit longer without knowing about the fungi in Dan's pants. That being said...thanks for sharing.

Rebecca - WOAH. I'm going to check that out now, and if I can find one I will love you forever.

Primal eating sounds a lot like clean eating, or maybe I just read it wrong. Either way, sounds good.

Ok, this is unrelated but from all your photos you look like Jason Wahler:

I'm not sure if that's useful information. Good luck getting everything done!

I found a pretty wicked little hibachi type grill in someone elses garbage Friday night when I came home shitfaced.
I have it on my balcony now and I am going to barbecue some chicken necks and scallops tomorrow (since I'm off) and since this is Tokyo and my neighbors window is about 2 feet from my balcony, I am going to get really popular.

So, I just looked up this Jason Wahler guy and he does look a bit like Martin....

But Martin is much better looking!

Annabelle - Woah...you're kinda right. He has more hair gel though. And I imagine he gets paid better.

Eric - Chicken necks...good?

Mama - Thanks for your unbiased comment :)

What. Are you in LA now? I need to get caught up on your life.

If you succeed in your corn pipe contraption...can you make me one? I like the thought of sitting under the stars and just chewing it...

Martin,

I began making a corncob pipe. First I ate the corn, trimmed off all excess kernels and cut out the bowl...it is currently dehydrating, then I'll finish it. I'll let you know how it finishes.
